Great Northern HamFest rally report

After an early start to get to the Fog on the Tyne rally the day before, the Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society team set off down to Barnsley for the Great Northern HamFest on the 19th September.

The Great Northern HamFest is an altogether bigger rally than the Fog on the Tyne event, more akin to the Blackpool rally. However, with more potential visitors we were hoping for lots more people to talk to and introduce the Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society, and our SOS Radio Week, fundraising event to. We weren’t disappointed.

We were able to get around to several of the exhibitng clubs and all were very receptive. We also spoke to lots of visitors, several of whom were already members of the RNLI and even some who were currently with stations or who had malped man them in the past.

The word has been spread far and wide as a result of the Great National Hamfest drawing visitors from a much wider geographic area. Thanks to Ernie and the crew for a great day out.

We’re now looking forward to the National Hamfest in Newark on the 1st/2nd October and we’ve just confirmed our attendance at the Llandudno Rally on the 30th/31st October. Do please come and visit us at either venue.
