RNLI Morcambe Bay Walk – Can you help?

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will be holding their annual walk across Morcambe Bay on the 25th June 2011 and the Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society has been asked to help.

Led by the Queen’s Guide, Cedric Robinson, this is one of the UK’s great walks as participants stride across 8 miles of treacherous sands that comprise Morecambe Bay. The sponsored walkers will meet at Holker Hall on the Furness Peninsula, take a pre-arranged shuttle bus to Arnside and walk back across the back to Kent Bank and on to Holker Hall.

The Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society has been asked if they can help in any way with the event and we have agreed in principle to operate a special event station in the grounds of Holker Hall during the event. We would also like to know if anyone would be interested in doing the walk so that we could give visitors to the station an opportunity to talk to walkers as they make the crossing.

If you would be available to help with the station, or indeed act as a roving reporter on the walk, please contact us as soon possible so that we can confirm our participation and start planning for the event. Many thanks for your support.

Further details of the walk itself can be found on the RNLI web site.
