The Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society have reserved the callsigns GB5RNLI and GB6RNLI for use by our RNLI Morecambe Bay Walk special event stations on the 25th June.
GB5RNLI will be operated from Holker Hall, whilst GB6RNLI will be used by our special event station at Arnside.
It is likely that the Arnside special event station, the starting point for the walk, will be operated from the car of Bob Hughes-Burton (MW0RHD).
The walk ends at Holker Hall and we will be operating a special event station from the car park to make visitors to the gardens and tea rooms aware of the event.
If you can help at either venue, please let us know as soon as possible.
The Morecambe Bay Walk, or Cross Bay Walk to give it it’s official title, is being organised by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and further details can be found on the RNLI web site.
The Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society will be exhibiting at the 49th Norbreck Amateur Radio, Electronics and Computing Exhibition in Blackpool on the 10th of April. We will hopefully be situated next to the Snowdonia Radio Company (SRC) stand, one of our major sponsors.
On the stand will be a number of members, but the more the merrier – so if you’re around and can help man the stand please let us know.
During the day we will be making a presentation to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for the amount raised during SOS Radio Week. It would be great if as many participators could attend so that we can get a group photograph. Again, please let us know if you wish to attend for the photograph.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will be holding their annual walk across Morcambe Bay on the 25th June 2011 and the Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society has been asked to help. read more

A few weeks ago we launched our own LARS shop containing Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society and SOS Radio Week branded clothing and items from the RNLI merchandising catalog.
We are now pleased to announce the launch of our Amazon shop. We have selected a range of lifeboat and Amateur Radio related range of books, videos, clothing (general Amateur Radio related – LARS and SOS Radio Week branded clothing is available from our own LARS shop), electronics and miscellaneous items from the vast Amazon catalog and placed them here on our web site.
All products ordered through our Amazon shop will not cost you a penny more than if you’d bought them through Amazon.co.uk, but they will earn us referral fees of at least 5% on each sale. All money received from our Amazon shop will go towards the running of the society.
