On the 25th June, 2011, GB5RNLI will be operational from Holker Hall to promote the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) Morecambe Bay Walk. Holker Hall marks the end of the walk.
Also on the 25th, GB6RNLI, will be operating from a car on the sea front at Arnside, the starting point for the sponsored walk across Morecambe Bay.
The following day, 26th June, both station’s operators move south to Stockport for the International Model Lifeboat Rally and will be operating under the GB5RNLI callsign with grateful assistance from the Southport & District Amateur Radio Club.
Please do listen out for the three stations and work them if you can on HF/VHF on the 25th and HF on the 26th.

The Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society have reserved the callsigns GB5RNLI and GB6RNLI for use by our RNLI Morecambe Bay Walk special event stations on the 25th June.
GB5RNLI will be operated from Holker Hall, whilst GB6RNLI will be used by our special event station at Arnside.
It is likely that the Arnside special event station, the starting point for the walk, will be operated from the car of Bob Hughes-Burton (MW0RHD).
The walk ends at Holker Hall and we will be operating a special event station from the car park to make visitors to the gardens and tea rooms aware of the event.
If you can help at either venue, please let us know as soon as possible.
The Morecambe Bay Walk, or Cross Bay Walk to give it it’s official title, is being organised by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and further details can be found on the RNLI web site.
The Lifeboat Amateur Radio Society will be exhibiting at the 49th Norbreck Amateur Radio, Electronics and Computing Exhibition in Blackpool on the 10th of April. We will hopefully be situated next to the Snowdonia Radio Company (SRC) stand, one of our major sponsors.
On the stand will be a number of members, but the more the merrier – so if you’re around and can help man the stand please let us know.
During the day we will be making a presentation to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) for the amount raised during SOS Radio Week. It would be great if as many participators could attend so that we can get a group photograph. Again, please let us know if you wish to attend for the photograph.
